CBT Tools for Coaches

Cognitive and Behavioural Approaches are particularly useful for challenging unhelpful beliefs and assumptions, as well as negative patterns of behaviour.

COURSE DETAILS

Suitable for:

Coaches who want to learn how to work more effectively with clients who hold rigid beliefs or behaviour patterns. For example, perfectionism, people-pleasing or low self-esteem.

Outline content:

  • Theory regarding human behaviour.
  • The cognitive model of change.
  • How to truly help a client to recognise and understand their own beliefs, assumptions and behavioural patterns.
  • How to help the client question and challenge these from different perspectives.
  • The behavioural model of change.
  • How to use behavioural interventions to identify a simple, clear path towards lasting change.
  • Using exposure and habituation in order to make new behaviours more comfortable.

By the end of the course, you will:

  • Be able to help clients to break out of rigid habits and patterns such as perfectionism and people-pleasing.
  • Have learned about how to work with really “stuck” patterns of behaviour and how to help people break out of them.
  • Have practised applying practical techniques for tackling mood, motivation, anxiety and real behavioural change.
  • Understand what is really going on when someone is resistant to change through our typical coaching interventions and how to help them to make progress.

6 ICF CCE points will be awarded for attending this course.
