Coaching Skills Foundation Programme

Coaching Skills Foundation Programme

An introduction to coaching for managers, leaders or individuals who would like to incorporate some coaching tools and techniques into their business and personal lives.

This course is open to everybody, with no prior experience assumed or expected. Whatever your current knowledge, you are welcome here.

COURSE DETAILS

Suitable for:

Anyone interested in finding out more about developing a coaching approach and understanding more about the psychology of change and motivation. This foundation-level course could be a springboard to move onto more professional, accredited coach training. If you do choose to go on to our full, ICF-accredited Postgraduate Certificate in Business and Personal Coaching, completion of this course will entitle you to a discount of £240.

Outline content:

Delegates will be in a group of up to 24 people. Throughout the programme, delegates will have the opportunity to coach, be coached and to observe coaching. Tutors will give live demonstrations of coaching techniques. All delegates will receive a course workbook and a certificate of attendance from Barefoot Coaching Ltd.

The intention of the course is to leave you with a good understanding of how coaching can be used to enable someone to be at their best. We will cover psychological theories of human behaviour and change and importantly, there will be a focus upon practical skills, trying things out and getting feedback on your coaching practice.

Some of the things we will cover are:
  • What is coaching?
  • The role of the coach and the coaching relationship
  • Listening
  • Asking powerful coaching questions and questioning models
  • Wheel of Life/Work
  • Values
  • The psychology of change and motivation
  • Towards and away from motivational drivers
  • Limiting and empowering beliefs and the role of the unconscious mind
  • Career coaching models
  • Coaching for relationships (work and personal)
  • Goals and celebration of achievements

By the end of the course, you will:

  • Be able to walk away with some really strong coaching practice under your belt, as well as some excellent tools in your back pocket.
  • Have learned about coaching for the specific context you work in, be it using coaching as part of your management style or using coaching to help people in a more personal context.
  • Have practised core coaching skills which will help you to truly enable your coachees to think at their very best and to find solutions that really work for them.
  • Understand how to open up a coaching conversation, how to manage boundaries and how to hold incredibly effective coaching conversations that help people to feel clearer and more confident.

Here's what one of our previous delegates have said:

"I feel empowered to utilise and practice coaching techniques in all settings. The course gives you the confidence through theory based learning, and the opportunity to cement that theory through practice. I feel more self-aware, a better listener and able to support individual learning & development through coaching techniques."
