Barefoot’s Flagship Coach Training Programme

Our Accredited Coach Training Programme (ACTP) is regarded as the gold standard of coach training by the International Coaching Federation (ICF). Once completed it provides successful candidates with the training hours required to apply to become a Professional Certified Coach with the ICF. This course is also approved by the University of Chester to enable delegates to choose to go on to complete a Postgraduate Certificate through the University. It is delivered online via Zoom over a total of twenty-five half days.

Over 4,000 coaches in the UK and across the globe have already chosen Barefoot to begin or to build their professional coaching careers. All Barefoot tutors are experienced, ICF accredited coaching professionals trained to postgraduate level and have Barefoot’s required combination of technical expertise, psychological understanding, commercial experience and professional credibility.

Our online programme maintains the same standard and quality that people have come to expect from us (including programme content and supporting materials), whilst leveraging the best virtual and collaborative technology.

WHO IS THE PROGRAMME FOR?

This programme is for anyone who wishes to acquire or develop coaching skills. It is ideal for executives, business leaders, HR professionals and coaches working in-house or independently, or for anyone with an interest in people development. Completion of this programme and the PG Certificate through the University of Chester can take you one step closer to gaining an MA in Coaching should you wish.

You do not necessarily need to have a degree to enrol on our programme. Please call us to talk about the entry requirements.

WHAT WILL THE PROGRAMME GIVE YOU?

Our university-approved and ICF accredited programme will give you an exceptional personal and professional development experience in a relatively short space of time.

You will be given insight into a broad range of approaches to coaching and an understanding of the psychological theories underlying coaching.

Our programme has been devised to provide a true adult learning experience, offering a rich blend of theory and practice. From day one you will learn new coaching theories, be introduced to a wealth of tools and techniques and will be practising coaching in pairs and small groups.

WHY CHOOSE BAREFOOT?

Barefoot Coaching has been at the forefront of the coach training industry for over twenty-five years. We are based in the UK and have a global reach. We have always been pioneers in the field of university-approved coach training and we are as passionately committed to it today as we have always been. We are proud that the Barefoot name is now instantly and internationally recognised. Our tutors are all highly regarded in their field and offer valuable input and expertise to help delegates optimise and enjoy their learning experience. Over 4,000 coaches in the UK and globally have already chosen Barefoot to begin or to build their professional coaching careers.

HOW IS THE PROGRAMME DELIVERED?

Our programme is delivered in three modules over twenty-five half days, with a two-week interval between each module. The modules cover the following areas of professional coaching practice:

Module One:
  • Preparation & Introduction
  • Coaching Foundations
  • Questions & Curiosity
  • The Coaching Relationship
  • Goals, Values & Change
Module Two:
  • Beliefs
  • Transitions
  • Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)
  • Coaching in Organisational Settings
Module Three:
  • Metaphor & Perspective Shifts
  • Being Professional
  • Transactional Analysis & Coaching
  • Self-Care for Coaches

After each module, delegates will experience a half-day group coaching supervision and mentoring session to support their ongoing learning and their work with volunteer clients. Barefoot will also provide mentoring and tutor support to you in completing your written work, should you choose to complete the PG Certificate element of the programme. Once you have registered with the University of Chester, you will also have access to the university’s extensive academic resources.

REAL PSYCHOLOGICAL DEPTH

Psychology has a key role to play in coaching. Coaching really is applied psychology. You will acquire specialist knowledge and understanding of the various psychological theories which underpin modern coaching practice.

A WIDE RANGE OF METHODOLOGIES

Our motto is “Beware the person of one book” – we do not believe in a “one size fits all” approach to coaching. We believe that coaches are more effective if they have access to a wide range of coaching methodologies and have the behavioural flexibility to adapt to the context and the client’s particular needs. Our programme will give you a rich variety of coaching strategies, ideas, tools and techniques and the freedom to develop your own individual coaching style.

PRACTICE, FEEDBACK, PRACTICE!

You will start practicing coaching from day one and continue regular practice in pairs and small groups throughout the entire programme, receiving feedback from the course tutors. You will benefit from coaching others, being coached and observing coaching demonstrations to help you to develop your own coaching style.
